I’m not the person who has been commenting on recent job postings, but I do agree with a lot of what he is saying (if not the way he says it). It is disheartening and a bit insulting for people to come on to Craigslist and try to get people to work for nothing, or try to make them do illegal things (like create screen scrapers). And please, for goodness’ sake, don’t come and post something like this:

“I need to download some data from my old computer to my laptop. Is a very simple task but I don’t know how to do it. It shouldn’t take more than an hour.”

You know that it’s a simple task, and you say you don’t know how to do it, yet you know how long it will take? Make up your mind. Either you do know how long it will take, in which case you also know how to do it (and should bloody well do it yourself!), or you DON’T know how to do it, and therefore also have NO IDEA how long it will take, and therefore should allow those of us who DO know how to do it tell you how much it will cost us to do it for you.

Times are rough, and seeing such witless ads only makes things worse, so please, job/gig posters, THINK BEFORE YOU POST ADS HERE…PLEASE.

Thank you.

I’m re-imagining 6 laptops with win7 for $300 labor. That will take less than 2 hours of attention, but I have 25 years experience, and the computers are year old HP laptops.

$ No one should whore themselves, assuming they have experience, for less than $20/hr. I agree that we should support this section of CL with blog and ward off off-shore and cheapsters offering sub-minimum wage.

There are wholesome jobs out there, like the Dept of Commerce Census. Thank God there are jobs here, and we’re not stuck in a place like Michigan or Florida looking for a gig to pay the rent.

No need to reply, but please monitor the posts.

thx.

YO, HOMIE!! —

When you use ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, it’s like you be SCREAMIN’ in da hood — so chill.

First of all, your Hewlett Packard A302X Desktop takes a MAXIMUM of 1 GB RAM in two slots, so you be smokin’ crack if you think you be gettin’ like 3 GB in there.

Second, Windows 7 ain’t necessarily gonna like dat box, ’cause it shares video memory with the RAM, and Windows 7 wants 1 GB RAM minimum. So what I’m sayin’ is, you ain’t even gonna have the minimum RAM you need to install it.

Third, there ain’t no AGP or PCI-E slot for a video card, so you f-ckd.

Last, you gonna need a bigger Hard Drive than the 40 GB drive that came wit da box.

$50-60.00 ain’t gonna do it fo’ sho’.

Give it up, bro.

WORD.
