I currently have a website – FreudTV and my business partner and I have decided to restructure it so that it is no longer a subscription based
membership, but a free membership, with the ability to upsell patrons after they have joined (add additional pictures = $20, add your website
= $10). We also want the site to have the functionality that facebook does in that it is a community site where members are sent emails to
motivate them to log back into the site frequently to check messages from other members, posts, updates, etc. (so that we can eventually be
attractive to advertisers)

My partner knows of someone who may be able to do this, but I would still like to get a couple of other quotes from people to see how much this
would be. How much time would be involved, etc. Please keep in mind the economy and that I am a starving post-graduate being somewhat
suffocated by good ol’ Sallie Mae right now.

Hi Asshole:

Go fuck a bucket of dogshit. Seriously. I can make more than $15/hour doing unskilled labor; in fact, I think the local XXX video store pays $20/hour to mop the semen off of the walls in the private viewing booths.

Ah, it was all going well until I saw this line:

“CMS- if you only use joomla or drupal – dont bother wasting my time – they are crap”

I don’t like using Joomla (I prefer Drupal myself) but even I wouldn’t dismiss either of these two CMSes, which power such sites as,, Popular Science, Sony Music, Olympus, Sprint, Porsche, etc., as “crap”. That tells much more about you than it does about either CMS, or the companies/organizations that use them.

In short, sir, your post = EPIC FAIL.

I am looking for a freelance programmer to handle all my programming jobs.

You must work as a full time freelancer with a minimum of 3 years experience.

What I want:
– must be able to work with Zend, Cake, Smarty (Symfony is a plus)
– can come in for meeting once in a while
– are always available by IM
– I dont like ghost programmers, I communicate with my programmers all day mostly by IM but sometimes by phone
– if you work on a specific schedule like 9-5 we wont work out, all my programmers who worked for me in the ast love to code, they bust their ass and work til the job is done
– are willing to fix bugs day or night, weekends, if there is a glitch its an emergency and you know its a priority. Even if its 11pm, you are willing to fix it.
– all my website are built with strict rules so they are SEO friendly (you will get very well educated in SEO programming)
– If you don’t follow instructions you will be out of a job quickly.
– you must be able to read other peoples code (im not paying you to learn on the job – that is what full time work is for)
– you must meet deadlines
– CSS – you should be able to turn any of my designs into CSS and they must work on all browsers
– CMS- if you only use joomla or drupal – dont bother wasting my time – they are crap
– I only do build custom CMS or use wordpress for cheap jobs
– Eccomerce – I either do Custom or Magento (any crap cets that arent SEO friendly won’t even be an option)
– If you code it, you also make sure it works. I dont want you to tell me something works and I test it and it doesn’t. That’s called wasting time.

– Please provide me with an hourly rate?
– Please send a resume
– Provide atleast 1 eccomerce store ( no cookie cutters)
– Provide atleast 3 custom CMS jobs
– Provide atleast 1 wordpress CMS job
– Provide 3 references

I am very easy going. My company has been around for over 5 years and the only reason my programmers have left is because they moved on to full time jobs. I provide steady work, but I want a coder not a on the clocker.

I have two sites up right now that are PITIFUL!!!!! NASTY!!! A DISGRACE!!!…you get the point?!
This is not including the three my space pages that are out there just driving me CRAZY! I am so not knowledgeable nor have the patience to fool with editing them myself. I get frustrated and truly don’t have the time to invest in teaching myself as I go.

Now, what I was looking for is this; I have two sites that are currently up but not cosmetically nice or fully functional.
There are a few things that I definitely would like to have on them eventually and there are things that I need to have on them right away.

Some things include:
About Us
Online Portfolio
Calender of Events
Google friendly

Upon contacting me, I will be able to provide you with the URL so you could look at them and tell me what ideas you have. Once you do that, I can fill you in on what it is that I would like to accomplish to start off with. I would be looking for monthly maintenance if possible so that I can be at ease that things are updated. I don’t know if there would be an initial fee and then a monthly maintenance fee as well. I can tell you that I have a budget of $100-$175 for the project and maybe a monthly maintenance fee of $10 a month for basic updating (i.e. adding/deleting photos, updating calender, etc.).

I already have a hosting account with unlimited EVERYTHING and all the logos, photos, blah blah blah that I want in them.

As far as the my space is concerned; I have the three that I maintain for the different business operations, but would like to have each employee (10-15) I represent to have one that is cohesive to the “parent” my spaces. I wondered if a template could be made that was the same for each page, with the exception of the models photo being different? I would be able to to add an additional $10 a month for this.

“I hope every TRUE developer reads this and decides that projects like this are just raping us. Whether people like this intentionally demean us or they are just truly this ignorant, answering ads like this “begging” for work is hurting the industry as a whole.”

Nah, no big deal.

This kind of thing is best handled by free-market economic principals. The one at work here is ‘you get what you pay for’. Think of all of the projects you’ve inherited from some developer who didn’t know what they were doing and made a big mess that you had to clean up…I’ve seen that too many times to count! And that’s the client getting off cheap. Some of the more expensive ways (for the client) to get an education on professionalism and value of experience, is to build an app using clueless labor, turn it loose and wind up in a messy situation when their site is hacked and users personal information stolen. What’s it worth to stay out of that lawsuit?

The people who are too stupid and unimaginative to consider the damage that cheap, inexperienced web designers can do (lost opportunity, lost time, failure to achieve project goals, security problems, etc, etc) are too stupid and unimaginative for anyone with a shred of competence to want to work for anyway.

I say, thank GOD for $5/hr web designers and the morons who employ them. The presence of that kind of thing just makes your skill, experience and qualifications shine all the brighter and further justifies your professional wages.

I never post about other posts, but this one got to me. Here’s what they want:

“Looking for a highly experienced designer and programmer to build a social/ business community website with advertising ability such as rotating banners, forums, blog, videos and the capacity to use social media along with event registration. We do quality events for small business development and we partner with large media organizations such as radio, newspaper and social media companies to promote the events. We also do our own emailing campaigns to small business owners. We get vast coverage both local and nationally and the traffic that is driven to our site is mostly small businesses looking for services and products that will help their businesses grow. We are looking to partner on a non-monetary exchange of services. We will promote the computer company as our sponsor and they will be listed on our promotional material and at our events as well as be the computer company that we refer out. Please only answer this ad if you are well experienced in the area of design and programming that we have listed. For more information email us at”

Notice that they want a “highly experienced” designer and programmer to do thousands of dollars worth of work for them. In return they offer no crass monetary compensation. They offer a link on the site that you built for them, a mention on some of their promotional materials and, maybe, some referrals. That makes their wish an oxymoron. What “highly experienced” developer is going to work for that? Even newbies are smarter than that.

I’m sure no one responded, but this one really does take the cake. Touche to the poster! This is the most idiotic request I’ve seen in a week.

$300-$500… FUCK YOU… It should be $5000 .. you pay after. not before.. bitch.. it’s 10 times more.. for bitches like you!!

This “business man” is so impressed with himself he wants you to do his work for free. He’s an educated ASSHOLE. NO PAYMENT till the work is done! Hello, what the hell are References, Demos, and Case Studies for? you want to go “REASONABLE” than fuck someone in the ASS. Shit… Go to a web development firm and hire a developer.. at least than I won’t hear all this shit about how you use to be a MICROSOFT ENGINEER who worked with Bill Gates directly and sucked his dick on a weekly basis… and how you can BUILD THIS SIMPLE SITE many years ago.

He wants a CMS done cheaply and don’t expect Payment till it’s done. Therefore, he can say to whom ever develops the site…. this isn’t done correctly, or this is out of alignment, or I want to also add this and that and not pay for it. So all you want to do is find a SUBMISSIVE WEB DEVELOPER INTO S&M….

a) basic site where I can put menus, directions, and so on.
b) who can do this fast?
c) it is not complicated work
d) I used to make webpages years ago.

Seriously? You have a book coming out and can’t afford to pay a designer to do your website? By good karma you mean you’re too cheap to pay someone so you want to find any way possible to get someone to work for free.

am a crazy, zany writer with a terrifically funny book coming out.

I need to have a simple, user freindly website/blog done for said purpose.

I will need to sell books & blog–(primarily).

My budget is SMALL…so, this is in no way a diss to your creativity; but, rather an economic reality on my part–so, it will be best if you LOVE my work and believe in the project…there is a good karma aspect to it as well—(In other words, a charitable arm to the site).

I have my hosting and domain names set up already; and would like to continue with my same services–and will need to update periodically.

I need some extreme creativity–some branding….so, to speak.
